This blog is for you

Hello. My name is Greta and I'm 65 years old so you may call me Nana Greta.

I'm going to go on a very long walk - more or less 2000 miles. The reason I'm doing this is that I'm very worried about Global Warming and the bad things that can happen to the Planet Earth. I worry that life will be harder for all the children that are growing up now unless we grownups stop doing things that are bad for the world. Life will be harder for many animals too, and some of them are already becoming extinct.

One day in October of 2008 I realized that I wanted to do something really impressive to call attention to Global Warming. That's when I decided to take this long walk. I am dedicating this walk to all the grandchildren in the world. That includes YOU.

Tomorrow I will tell you where the walk will be, when it will start and about how long it will take.

Thanks for starting this, Greta. I think it will be very useful in the walk and for the children. Natalie

This morning my students all looked at your blog during computer class. The computer teacher didn't want to create profiles for all the children, but I'm going to see if I can do that. They all wrote you lovely comments - I wish they had been able to post them.

I've changed the settings so that anyone can leave a comment. The children can sign their first names in the text click the anonymous option to leave a comment. - Greta

Are you gonna try to save the animals by walking? From,Jenna

Kevin - I have read several books, listened to a lot of speakers and done a lot of research online. I read about global warming every day on the internet. Thanks for your encouragement.

Jenna - Yes, I want to help save the animals too. What we need to save is the habitat (which means the places they live) and the food supply of the animals. Already some animals are moving from the parts of the world where they've always lived to others because of climate change. Birds and fish are two examples.

Hi Nana Greta:)
Really cool thing that you have decided to do. My son Xavier came home and asked me to look @ your site. He is also in Ms. Hart's classroom. WOW-admirable thing you are doing walking 2000miles. You have lots of drive and I think we all should do our best to do what we can to help. Think I look into recycling our trash:) Have an adventurous walk. Best Regaurds, Elizabeth
