Dear Children -

It's March - time to begin the march, as Christina says in her comment. The first thing I need to do is get to Texas, which is far south of my home in Pennsylvania. So today my husband and I are starting off in the little motor home that will be my hotel, kitchen and office during my WALK.

I want to be very careful to use as little gas as possible because, as you know, burning gas produces carbon emissions and causes global warming. Unfortunately my motor home uses a lot of gas, but I will drive slowly - around 55 miles per hour - and will avoid taking any side trips. This way I will burn less gas.

It would be better to just walk and not use a vehicle at all, but I need a safe place to sleep. And I have to tell you something: I love my little motor home - I call it my gypsy wagon. I always dreamed of going off in a home on wheels. It's just that now I'll have to walk 12 to 15 miles every day before I can relax in the gypsy wagon.

hello nana greta its me christina again. I like your gypsy wagon on the picture, hope you have fun with that. I had a horrible day at school. Well, you see there was a subsatuite at school today. It was Ms.Peters. there was a fight at the end of the day with sashala and kiara. They used to be best friends, but, kiara got jealos because sashala was like being the "teachers pet". What i mean is like going around her, telling her what we do, and stuff like that. They took pictures on her cell phone. And then kiara was crying then sashala was crying, and to make sashala go back to her seat, they had to pick her up really weird. And everyone was sreaming and talking and i got a huge headace. the good part is my kindergarten teacher [Ms. Saktah,) gave us baggies. So i think kiara can be kind of mean. Cause she looks at me in a diveous way, and one friady she pulled my index card out. So she runs to her seat, and she looked like she was going to say yes ms. hart. And they both tricked me in first grade. Me and my best friend bianca got in a fight. so sashala and kiara say "Christina, we will be friends with you only if you dont be friends with bianca" i said ok. but then i wanted to be back with bianca, and i did. Sashala and Kiara say "Christina, i thought we had a deal!" so i think thats why they think im mean. But i dont want Ms.Hart to be upset with us. So im ging to take a nap now to get rid of my headace so, i hope your having fun on your walk and i will be looking at your site every day on my computor [i will write comments sometimes] good bye nana greata!!!!!!

Hello Christina - I'm hoping I can walk all the way from New Orleans to the Canadian border. I've done many things to keep healthy and I've always been a good walker. I'm lucky to have good feet for walking. So we'll see if I make it all the way. Thanks for rooting for me. -

Hello everyone! So many nice messages. I'll answer them one by one below:

Kiara - I'd love to take you for a ride in my gypsy wagon (that's my favorite name for it). Today, Monday, March 23, I'm in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and I will walk to Ellisville, MS.

Tiffany - Oh dear! I'm afraid my walk and my blog haven't made any difference in pollution and global warming. Not yet. But If I can convince some people to use less fossil fuels, I will be pleased. I hope my little drop in the bucket will help fill it. So will your little drop.

Tony - I'm so happy to hear that you're doing things to save energy, and that you're telling others to try too. If we can get more and more people to pay attention we can create a better future for everyone, including the animals.

Jordan -My biggest problem with the gypsy wagon was a tire that blew out on my way to Texas. It was one of two tires on the passenger side of the rear axle, so I could continue to travel a short distance to a tire repair shop. They put on the spare tire, but they told me I wouldn't be able to get the right size tire for my vehicle because it was no longer manufactured. The van is from 1982. However, in Texas I found a shop that ordered a new tire for me, so now I'm all set.

Christina - Yes, I'm taking food. In my gypsy wagon there's a little stove (three burners) and I make coffee on it every morning. I hope to do more cooking sometime soon. When the wagon is in a campground hooked up to regular electricity I can use the refrigerator and the microwave. I carry a lot of fruit and cans of soup.

Jenna - I'm not going to Florida on this trip. It's really far out of the way. Maybe some other time. And the trip is going well - thenks for asking.

Sashala - Right now I'm in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Tonight I should be in Ellisville, tomorrow in Laurel.
